Client Relations/Service or FAA route

Wanted to know what you guys thought about these career paths. They are different but very much in the PWM category. As a 22 year old recent grad, which route do you think is feasible. The CSA route is pretty dry doing administrative/clerical work but it seems more stable. The FAA route seems like a big burden for someone new to the game but a lot more hands on expereince.

I've been intering at Morgan Stanley WM and have been asked if I was interested in the FAA program. But I have also been interviewed for several CSA roles at different firms.

Opinions?

At your age the probability of success as an FA is somewhat low. The problem is that you have no real network yet and getting older clients to trust you with their hard earned money will be a definite challange. Your best bet here is to get hired onto a team where you can handle the lower tier clients.

The service associate/CSA position is more steady and there is a possibility that later you might be able to get hired on as an FA; but I wouldn't recommend that you go this route. Within the office you will be seen as an administrative person and the skills you pick up whie doing this type of work will not help you later as an FA.

At your age I would probably do something else entirely and revisit the FA position again at around 30.

yeah you definitely should listen to sfbroker too. its a hard business as an faa especially as a new guy. if the team says they will support you then yeah but if not then go with the csa route. get all your license, get your CFA, and if they will support it get your mba too
