Commerical Real Estate Advice
I'm currently working in Online Marketing as an Advertising Coordinator. I'm still young, 1 yr out of Business School in California. I want to slowly pursue a career in commercial real estate, possibly agent/broker or financial analyst.
I have a Business marketing degree, lots of project management experience, html/SQL coding skills, etc., but not really any experience with real estate.
I'm currently studying to take the California Real Estate Exam to help with basic terminology.
I've been applying to job postings (that require only like an AA degree) & I'm not getting any calls back from recruiters.
What else could I do to distinguish myself, or what advice would you give to someone pursuing CRE in Los Angeles Area?
Thanks!
Reach out to the major commercial real estate brokerages. There are a lot of folks based in the LA-area, and business on the west coast has been pretty active generally. CBRE, Eastdil, JLL, Cushman, and HFF are all pretty active. I would reach out and see what positions are available.
These real estate brokerage houses normally operate in a number of different functions (such as asset sales, leasing reps, tenant reps, research, property management, etc.) and property verticals (office, retail, hotel, apartments, etc.).
