Confidentiality in a PE Interview Process (my MD is buddies with the PE Partner)

Hello,

I have the chance to interview with a small PE shop (I'm currently an analyst in a boutique investment bank). However, one of my MD's is close friends with a Partner at the PE firm (i.e. they've gone out at night together before, not related to a deal). So I think this is above the average relationship between IB MD's and PE guys they market deals to.

The thing is my firm does not support buy-side recruiting and most other juniors have stayed on. No one knows I'm recruiting. The interview opportunities I've gotten for PE have been few and far in between. Should I take the risk the Partner might tell my MD and go ahead with the interview?

(I have a great relationship with this MD, but he doesn't know I'm recruiting).
