Consultants and Investment Bankers Applying to Business School

Hi all!

I have heard it would be a better idea for me to apply to business school in round 1 since I come from a "typical background" (i.e. consulting / i-banking). What do you think?

My current plan was to apply to some schools in round 1 but to my top schools in round 2 so I can have a better story. I'm a strategy consultant at a top firm, minority, engineer, 2.5 years of international projects and started a company that I run on the side. GMAT? We'll see..

Thank you for your feedback if any!

I have always heard and been told that there is no material difference in applying between round 1 and 2. I also came from a traditional 2+2 background and along with the vast majority of my peers, applied in round 2. Obviously the advantage of applying in round 1 is that you can be more selective with your applications so if everything works out, it can greatly reduce the pain of the application process.
