Corporate Access to IBD
Hey guys!
I'm a rising senior from a semi-target at US, and I'm looking to apply for some IBD positions in Asia, particularly in HK.
So I managed to get an SA offer from a BB in their corporate access team within the institutional equity division, and this was the best I could get (I admit that I was a bit late in the game). For those of you who have never heard of corporate access before (I searched on WSO and got just a post related to this), the team creates and delivers field trips, conf calls and other corp access events to public/private firms for buy-side investors.
Frankly speaking much of what I've done for the internship was to make cold calls to corporates, arrange meetings and prepare field trip logistics for our clients. I've done some research into the macroeconomics in order to deliver the clients what they want for our events but I admit it's not really related to any type of valuation analysis that's required for IBD.
So I'd like to know from you guys how much chance I have for an IBD FT offer, especially in such a tough time, and perhaps more importantly how I'm supposed to leverage this experience at an interview (if I could get some). And would it be a good option to go for equity sales instead, which is much more related to what I've done for SA? Thank you!
