Deciding the Scope of Schools to Apply for MSF
Hey Guys,
First time posting on this site, here it goes.
I'm 21 years old. I have developed a passion for finance over the past two years and am seriously considering pursuing a MSF. I was wondering if you guys could let me know based on the information below what schools I have a shot at getting in.
I'm a senior studying Electrical Engineering. GPA= 3.65/4.00. The school I go to is not super prestigious but ranked in the top 100 for engineering. I used to be really interested in theoretical math so I have a lot of extra hours of math. In addition to the calculus and other math courses required for engineering. I have taken Introduction to Real Analysis 1, Intro to Contemporary Modern Algebra 1, Discrete Math, and Theory of Probability.(A's in all those although I got a C in calc II).
My signals analysis course was essentially a course on Fourier analysis.
I previously interned 12 months a major US oil company(think big three) working as a small project manager in a refinery.
I haven't taken the GMAT yet but on an optimistic note lets just pretend I have already taken it and got a 680.
I have several strong letters of recommendation. One from my mentor at the oil company, and a friend of mine who mentored me in mathematics and is now is a professor at NYU.
And most importantly I have a blazing passion for finance and I spend a fair amount of time reading books on investing, and the occasional annual report. While I was interning I was spending at least 7 hours a week studying finance in addition to a 55 hour work week.
So yea, any idea what schools I should be targeting?
Thanks
