No, you haven't been dinged. Either you have been short-listed as a back-up candidate or the firm hasn't made a decision yet. Try to keep it off your mind.
Just my $0.02, but I've had similar experiences where before the actual result, I received an e-mail from an employee almost phrased exactly as this. Sounds pessimistic but that's just my opinion, I hope for the best.
"Please feel free to reach out if you ever want to further discuss XX (bank) or banking in the future"
Yeah. They were extending their kindness to talk about future opportunities and whatnot, at least that was the vibe I got from the similarly structured e-mails. Said fuck that, that's just common courtesy. Moved onto the next bank.
I guess. In your experience, if you got an offer, what was the latest you knew by? Maybe I'm just too anxious, but I feel like the vague email replies and the fact it's been about a day and a half mean it's not a great outlook..
I wouldn't read into thank you emails too much... in my experience they haven't meant shit, whether they sounded good, bad, or didn't respond.Good luck brotha

Thanks a lot for the reassurance. What does short-listed mean, by the way?

If it's been 4 days (will be 6 on Monday), do you think I should follow up with H.R.? Or would you recommend I just wait it out without follow up?

I'm assuming you didn't get it after?

In my experience, you can never read into the thank you replies. I found this to be true when applying for internships, IBD positions and later on.
