Quick question, I know I'm being impatient and analyzing too much but I'm just curious what everyones opinions are. I wrote my thank you emails to each person I interviewed for during my final round. Only 2 people responded so far. One of them was neutral just saying nice to meet you etc, the other person, a VP, emailed back answering some questions I had then finished off by saying "best of luck with your job search". Although I have not gotten any official answer regarding my candidacy does this translate too we have already talked and we didn't select you?

Why no official answer?
When you're emailing bankers (I assume), be aware that they don't have that much time to respond to emails from interviewees, even they are candidates who did well at interview.
In my last interview, I did the thank you email thing as well, got a very short reply from the MD on the same day, but no reply from the VP for almost a week. But then after I got the offer from HR, the VP called me to say congratulations.
I'm not sure how much you should read into the "best of luck with your job search" thing....
Why don't you just get in touch with HR and get a final decision?
I actually just interviewed
I actually just interviewed yesterday and I only got a response from an analyst (same day), VP (next day). Through my interview I heard they are still interviewing early next week so I'm not sure if final decisions are truely made. I was just wondering if this was a hint that they didn't like me or something.
no
I generally write back, "best of luck with your job search" as well.
When I say it, I mean, "I know you are looking for jobs, and this may be one that you are looking at, but I wish you luck in finding a lot of jobs so you can make the best decision for you."
Don't worry.

Don't read into thank you's
Seriously, if there's one thing I've learned from the whole recruiting/interviewing process, it's that you can't read into a thank you, either way! I've had nice responces that led to no offer and less enthusiastic responces (or none at all) that led to an offer. Remember, your interviewers may not even play a role in the actual decision making process other than to "grade" you during the interview. After that, it often falls into HR's hands leaving them as much in the dark as you.
Thank you for all the
Thank you for all the responses guys. I really appreciate it. I know I'm getting a bit worked up and trying to read between every line, I just really enjoyed meeting this group and feel that it will be an excellent fit. Keep the respones coming and thanks again!!!
I wrote a thank you letter
I wrote a thank you letter to my Goldman interviewer and she wrote back "Thanks Anna. It was a pleasure meeting with you and good luck with the rest of the process."
...my name isn't Anna.
This is just a general piece
This is just a general piece of advice for you young ones. Don't worry about things you have no control over. Once you start working in banking, you're going to have to start prioritizing what you worry about. If you worry about everything (including stuff you have no control over), you'll have a mental breakdown.
This is one of those cases. I know it's hard, but you can over analyze every bit of info while simultaneously tearing your hair out. If I was in your position, I'd constantly be on the offensive - I'd use this time to continuously look for new interviews and opportunities instead of worrying about what's already done and in someone else's hands.
P.S. Be happy you even got a response. Most people don't take the time to write back - I rarely did.
possibly.

Maybe they meant, "thanks, and.. uh... it was a pleasure meeting with you..."
