Etiquette for Contacting Firm

I found a small PE firm near my school. I checked their website out and they don’t have a formal ‘careers’ sections. However, they do have a general phone # and email ([email protected].) They also have an investment professional page, which lists everyone from managing partners to analyst, with email addresses. I know it’s a long shot but I want to contact the firm to see if they have any intern opportunities. Even if its mickey mouse type work, I really don’t care I just need something to build my resume. How should I go about contacting them? I think emailing the info address will just get picked up by a secretary and deleted, and I’m not sure if contacting an individual at the firm is a bit blunt.

A lot of times smaller firms may not have a dedicated HR/Personnel department and one of the associates or directors or someone will sort of take on those duties on the side. I've been told in the past to giving the general number a call and asking to whom resumes should be sent. If they have a page listing all the people working there, see if anyone's title indicates they're in charge of this kind of thing and contact them.
