I am a 2nd yr Aso in BB bank based in London. I am not doing very well, I do not see myself promoted to MD in the future and current pay sucks. On the flip side I feel like I give too much to this job and do not feel it is worth it. I am 29 now and I blame this job that my earlier perfect long standing relationships broke up and my fiancee left me a year ago.
I feel I can stay in investment banking for another 3-5 years but this is going to be a big stretch and probably work-life balance is going to be bad, i.e. no personal life at all.
So I am looking for exit options where my priority will be to have as good work-life as possible. I tried talking to small cap and mid cap PEs but they will not sponsor my Visa hence this is not an option. Considering that, I start thinking about moving to corporate space. I realise that my pay will decrease however I am fine with that.
What would you recommend? Do you envisage any other relevant routes to exit and boost lifestyle?
