Is Financial Consultant and Financial advisor pretty much the same thing?
What do you do as a FC or a FA?
Is it not too difficult to become one? (recruitment/job outlook/degrees required or recommended)
How's the salary?
High/avg/low stress?
Thanks!

From a retail level,
From a retail level, financial consulting is synonymous with financial advisory, offering average investors some money management advice.
However, IBs, hedge funds, and banks will also hire in consultants to leverage their expertise to quickly deliver results, usually on a per project basis. These range from optimizing hedging strategies, working with structuring in the development of new products, to enterprise risk systems and vendor selection, depending on your background and area of expertise. Since people are paying a lot of money for your ass to be there, you need to be able to pick up things VERY quickly. Because you're constantly working with new people all the time, you need to be very interpersonal and be able to very rapidly establish effective relationships.
As an example, I'm a Financial Consultant with a focus on Capital Markets, currently working with the Electronics desk at a large global dealer to help understand and optimize client deal flow. Pay is nowhere close to the sales guys and traders I'm working with, but it's decent with a comprehensive expense package. Mainly took the job to fly around and travel, gotta do it while you're young right.
