financial journalism

Does anyone know what it takes to get your foot in the door at CNBC or Bloomberg as a financial broadcast journalist? I graduated from a top school, work at the number one investment bank, and am very interested in working as a reporter right away, as compared to working as an assistant first. Any thoughts or resources or advice?
