First Impression w/ senior firm member...
I have an upcoming phone conversation with a senior member of a respectable Boutique IB (MD,VP level). I am trying to secure a spring internship that I hope will become a summer offer. My question is what could I expect from the conversation? Should I try to turn it into a face to face meeting? This is my first conversation of this kind and I'm a little nervous; any tips or information is welcomed.
Some background info:
Junior year
no banking experience
3.8 gpa Major ~4.0(econ)
Non-target
How did you get this phone call? Is it a personal contact or part of their recruiting process? In any case, be yourself and know your resume, ask good questions about his career (older guys love talking about themselves), and simply act interested in what he has to say.
Talk on the phone, have good things to ask about the firm, the position and what not. Ask some questions about what he does and what not, but I would try to leave the personal career stuff for the meeting/coffee/lunch date, def try and get face time. At that level, they really appreciate it a lot more than an email. In any event email
