Freshman Summer: wm at bb OR smaller WM/IM firm
I have to opportunity to intern in the Wealth Management division of a BB bank (financial advising) or to intern at a wealth managment/investment management firm (1 billion in capital).
Should I take the big name or the hands-on experience at the small firm? Any advice?
Thanks guys!
when you talk of a BB wealth management job, do you mean a formal summer analyst job? or do you mean a job at a branch?
i guess it's not bb.. it's Citi Smith Barney in nyc don't know if it's some branch or a main office
this is my other SN
bump
well Citi Smith Barney does run a summer analyst program, but I think you would know if you were in that. you would have had to get that job via a superday, which it doesn't sound like you did.
If this is the case, I would take the investment management job. You will really get very little experience to talk about at a non-analyst WM position, trust me, I did it myself at a BB. but as a freshman, you're in good shape with either of those options.
you're right.. no super day and all that jazz
what did you do as an intern? did it get you anywhere or give you something to talk about the next summer ?
i'm leaning toward the smaller place as it seems like i would be a lot more involved as opposed to doing some menial activities.
thanks for the help!
