Freshmen seeks help!!! orz 0rz Orz

I hope to work at a global macro fund at the age of 25(realistic?).

From what I've heard UCLA is a great school but not a semi-Target. Chances are, I will end up in accounting, consulting or CA branch of BB banks in 4 years time like other UCLA graduates. Is it even possible for a UCLA graduate to land a BB job in NY?

I plan to apply to the internship at JP Morgan HK next summer. For I am a native speaker in Mandarin and fluent in Cantonese, I believe I have an edge than applying to NYC. If I interned at the HK office, does that mean only the HK office (not other offices) will offer me a job when I graduate? Is it more difficult to transfer from JP morgan HK to NYC office/buyside in NY than LA/SF office?

P.S. I hope to get a 3.8+ gpa and transfer to a target like Oxford PPE, Columbia, Upenn etc(all whom rejected me this year). Should I put UCB on the list because Hass seems quite competitive?

Looking forward to hear from you guys.

yes, it is possible to land a bb in ny from ucla with a 3.8 gpa.

you will need internships+networking+ telling your rec you want to go to NY.

I don't know much about transferring offices and I am sure there are some global macro funds in LA

Wharton/Haas do seem really competitive to transfer into because I think they have a bunch of class requirements, other schools shouldn't be that hard to transfer into. That said, 3.8 from UCLA shouldn't be too hard to accomplish what you are trying to do so I really dont see the point in transferring.

Hope that helped
