General Question - Consensus on details for resume

Whats the consensus as far as how detailed we should make the "Experiences" portion of our resume? I have absolutely no finance experience, so I'll mostly be listing the science research that I've done. I mean I can type it out very detailed, with words that probably don't even make sense to someone not familiar to the field, or I can keep it general and try to write it in a way that is "dumbed down" a bit. I can also spin the work in some ways to be relevant to finance, as I did a lot the computer simulations and statistical analyses. I'll be gunning for S&T if it makes a difference.
