Going out

For 1st and 2nd year analysts, how often do you go out during a week? And how often do you use "I'm a banker" to pick up girls?

I ask this because I go out 4 nights a week, and I just CAN'T imagine being able to only going out 2 time every month or so once i start working.

i think one night a week is pretty reasonable. and it depends also ifyou like working hungover a lot.you can still go out but sometimes the sleep is more worth it.

i hope youre kidding about the im a banker line. thats just pathetic and it doesnt work. you think throwing out "i'm a banker" or "i'm a consultnant" carries any weight whatsoever in new york? maybe you can get a sympathy hug every now and then, but thats it.

I know NY is the financial capital of the world but still....half the people at a regular bar can not be ibankers.

Could it be the fact that the places you guys go to are just popular business restaurants/bars and thats why everyone in Ny appears to be one.

Wow, just wow, some of you guys are so fuckin' naive and lame it's almost unbelievable.

The "I'm a Banker" line will just make you look like a douchebag.

To the question, I go out 4-5 times a week right now in College and I'm hoping I'll go out at least 3 days a week when I start work.

Want to know how to pick up girls as an investment banker? Tell the girl you're an investment banker, but say it in a disapproving way like you're almost embarrased to be an i-banker so as to convey "yeah, I know you think all investment bankers are douchebags, and so do I, but I'm different because I don't try to use my job to get girls...BUT, I'm still rich and powerful and have a big hard dick." Then feed her some bullshit how you are only doing 2 years as an i-banker to learn finance before you take a year to see the world then start your own non-profit. PANTIES DROP.

fp175:
What are you gonna do if you meet a woman and use that "I'm a banker" line and she replies, "big deal, so am I."

You ask for her thoughts about friends w/ benefits - ideal because you work the same hours and can complain about the same stuff before/after/during hooking up.

Honestly, if you can't get girls without using the "banking" shit, you won't get girls with it. As well, if you can't get girls in college, good luck after, even with the banking lines. I have not tried...and I never will.

"Construction worker" works best, or surfer...

haha, thanks for all the replies.. and yes I am half joking about the banker line.. i get enough girls here in college, and only will miss it when I start working.

For some reason I thought about Monkey Business, when they went to the company party and everyone was trying to hit on the hot HR girls or something like that. Does this happen at your bank? And as for the HR girls, do they actually want to get with bankers???

Sorry but, when I think about banking, I tend to associate it with women a lot, maybe cuz i love them too much.

if you're on the s&t side you'll likely be going out with work at least a few times a month either taking clients, or being taken by brokers. went out with brokers last night...feeling a little rough today.

The Best advice I will share with you bums:

Tell them you're a Doctor, doctors are always in. Chicks of all socio-economic backgrounds dig doctors. Cardiac or Brain Surgeon is your best bet.

Just remember to have your background info in check, just in case you run into another doctor or a nurse.

Doogie likes guys anyway, so that route is shut down.

S&T gentlemen. Many nights out with brokers begging for business and willing to pretty much pay for ANYTHING to get your biz. Not that I've ever taken them up on that.

Most of you guys will be analysts. Which means you will be some of the poorest people in the bar at any given point in time. Outside of all the B&T that comes in on the weekends, you will be the poorest people in Manhattan in general. I was reading on Bberg the other day that in order to even be in the top 25% of the income range in Manhattan you need to making around $400K. So even senior analysts are still in the bottom 50%, as are most new associates. Then don't forget all the trust fund babies, rich actors/artist types, marketing, lawyers, etc. Almost every time I go to a bar and meet a girl she is in some industry where she makes as much if not more than I do. If you tell someone you're an IB analyst they'll probably feel sorry for you that you have to live with 3 guys stuffed into a tiny apartment in order to live on the island and not in Hoboken, and buy you a drink out of pity. You're certainly not going to be pulling any tail because of it....

$400K seems pretty high for the 25th percentile. Most lawyers and doctors don't make that much. I know Manhattan is wealthy, but that stat is just crazy.

I do know one trader in NYC who told me he personally knows a handful of people who made more than 50 MILLION last year. Pretty scary.

Do you think attractive women in NYC are more into wealth and status than women from other cities?

He's actually an independent trader, but he knows people in all areas of finance: banking, trading, PE, etc.

Deutsche definitely has some heavy hitters, like Boaz Weinstein. But in the latest Trader Monthly ranking of the 100 highest earning traders from last year, 93 were hedge fund guys while only seven were bank traders. The minimum cutoff to make the list was $50 million.

Face it guys, the Banker thing is not gonna work.

You're gonna have to be more imaginative or else you'll end up at Scores at 3 am, shitfaced and horny, and blow a lot of unnecessary dough on some stripping slut from Kansas that probably makes twice as much as money as we do.
