No, I have thought about this, I value appearance too highly.
I've absolutely thought about this and why not a make or break, it's definitely a plus.
Think about it - remember that business you always wanted to start? BOOM there's your first investor. And I bet they have wealthy friends.
Not only that but you automatically have a level of financial security - you can take more risks and give less of a f***.
AND not to mention the probably amazing family vacations you'd be invited to. Oh we're renting Ferrari's and driving them along the mountains in Italy? Yeah sounds pretty fun, I'll check my schedule.
I dated a very hot and very wealthy girl recently. It was definitely a different experience. But I broke it off with her because life is too short to be with someone whose personality really doesn't match yours. Glad I had the experience, but I don't need the girl to be rich--just need her to be compatible. Plus, if you have a conscience, using a girl for her money has got to make you feel like a complete jackass. I'm sure there are some sociopaths or near-sociopaths who would have no problem using people though.
Has been done throughout the history since antiquity to present days in various forms, from young Roman officers marrying their son-less patrons' daughters to Renaissance impoverished nobles marrying into wealthy merchant families to 20th century industrialists marrying their daughter to someone capable of managing the business once they retire. Or just simply marrying a rich girl for her daddy's money or influence, yep.
I'd do it, provided the girl is at least tolerable in terms of looks and personality. I'm done with love and romantic bullshit anyway, so why not get something out of it. If nothing else I'd keep her pregnant and pumping out sons, and send them all to Andover/Princeton/YLS. Maybe one becomes the President one day using granddad's money and connections. Just for the fun of it (real-life videogame/RPG).
A guy who was a couple of years older than me in my fraternity did it. The girl was rich as hell, so-so in the looks department, an ok personality and had an IQ slightly above a chimpanzee. He was pretty much a douche bag but I guess was a good looking guy. Last I heard 20 years later they're still married, he screwed around career wise and started up multiple companies that went nowhere, the dad passed away, he took over (she was an only child and too dumb to take over) and they have a bunch of kids and live like royalty. I think she's the default career of every rich below average intelligence woman, an "interior designer" but I doubt she's ever had a client. Just their houses.
I think to do that for the long term you'd have to be a special sort of person, male or female. It's much more accepted for a woman to marry the rich guy for his money and I know plenty of people in those types of marriages and they're just weird. I'm not extolling the virtues of doe eyed true love but committing for forever, or at least 7-10 years, to that would take a person who likes money a lot more than anything else. But for some people it seems to work. I know more on the rich guy/hot woman side and they tend to get what they want out of it. Guy gets hot usually younger woman he can parade around and screw, she gets lots of money and usually not too much attention from the guy.
It's still called gold digging.
I've dated rich girls before, and it's great. Couldn't do that long term though, spending 40 years with someone you're not compatible is a good reason to put to put a bullet in your head.
Never marry someone for money, but only date women that have money. Problem solved.
I think you'd have to be an idiot to not give that some serious consideration if you are presented with the opportunity.
But how would you extract most value out of it? I assume that after a while the woman will lose respect for you as you are not the primary earner in the household. Is this actually beneficial because it will lead to divorce, so do you get half like women do so frequently?
