grad school and reneging on an offer
this isn't currently an issue for me, but i am possibly considering getting a masters right after undergrad. if i accepted a full time offer in the fall of my senior year, but then received acceptance to a program in the spring, would i get in trouble for reneging on the offer? even if the program was just one year?
A friend of mine from Rice I work with delayed his hire date a year so he could finish his masters in bioengineering. I don't know if 2 years is a big deal, but one shouldn't be a problem. I would at least alert HR soon enough so they have warning....anyway, didn't most analyst training programs just start?
Be careful -- there are pluses and minuses and it depends on what the masters is for. If they like you, no problem. Just play it by ear.
is ther eany tangible benefit of picking up a masters (i'm thinking of doing one in stat or econ)? i really enjoy the subjects and don't know if i would ever get the chance to go back to school. does anyone have anymore anecdotes of students who have put off ib for a year even though they had already accepted an offer?
