GS HR

O.K. guys I just want to get your feel on my little situation here. GS HR (S&T) contacted me like 1.5 mnths ago stating they are interested in me. It took almost a month before I was even given the opportunity to meet with their HR. I finally met with them (twice) within the last two weeks. I called for today in order to follow up with them. I was told by on one to call back next week so we cna talk.

I know the GS process is long but seriously I feel like I on stuck on the HR train and have yet to meet with any groups. Do you guys think I'm getting the famous runaround? Also, what would you suggest I do? Thanks All

I'm assuming this is for full-time?

This is par for the course for GS HR(S&T). They are hands down the most disorganized and uncaring HR group on Wall St. But it's Goldman so nobody cares.

Prepare for the long, long road to nowhere.

Thanks for your response. Its for full-time. I really don't want to shoot myself in the foot while I wait for them. I already left my other bank b/c the situation there was getting ridiculous. I know at least 15 ppl who left within the last 2 1/2 mnths.

I am considering offers & interviews from other places. But I really want to play ball on Goldman's team.

what bank were you working for before?

"But I really want to play ball on Goldman's team." Prepare for the long wait then. Everyone wants to play on Goldman's team, that's why HR treats everyone like garbage.

What groups are you looking at there?

corgi95, I was working at DB and I am looking to join GS FICC Sales team. You know it must be great to play ball with #1 but I like have a job & playing with someone else S&T team will just have to do.

For everyone else, thanks for the feedback. Start to frealize everyone goes thru this bullsh*t weeding out process. For the guy that it took them 2.5 yrs I hope he was employed that whole time

I think I'm just going to accept other offers and see if GS comes around. If they do, it would be bad if I just leave my other team--just to join them especially if they do it within months of me being somewhere else?

I remember my cousin being in the same boat as you. He was bitching and moaning and getting pissed off. Anyway he made it through. At the end of the day its really worth it....especially when you get that ball busting bonus. Good luck!!

Some of Goldman's people came to my city in late fall and talked about working for GS(it was a presentation/pre-employment screening for several groups). They talked about the process to get hired and one guy said it took him 6 months before he got hired into S&T and another guy said it took him 2.5 years before he got hired. In all honesty I know that GS is tops on everyone's list and I know that the fit part is very important especially in GS, but, 2.5 years is taking it a bit too far. That's my 2 cents...
