HELP!!!! BERKELEY VS UMICH ROSS VS UCLA UNDERGRAD

Hello!
Im a current high school senior with no time to decide what college to go to for my undergrad degree. Where should I go for my undergrad degree that will help me the best to break into management/strategy consulting? I'm very set on wanting to work for M/B/B right now. I know this will take a lot of work, but it is my goal. I also know that I want a MBA later in life-hopefully.

Berkeley:

1 public school

closest to home (transportation easy, don't like that I will know many people, I kind of want to get away)
try to get into Haas my sophomore year
grade deflation-- i've searched it up and classes here seem to be extremely hard to get good grades here
will impact job/internship applications and mba application??^^^
VERYYY competitive (huge con/stress on life factor)
in-state tuition
econ major if i don't get into haas
sillicon valley ties to work in tech consulting?

UmichRoss:
I have pre-admit status so freshman year should be easy
very far from home (should be fun meeting new people) but transportation costs high
already in ross, just have to maintain a 3.0
not as competitive??
grade inflation- the grading scale here seems to be much easier to maintain higher grades
(this will help much more when applying for jobs and grad school??^^^)
will most likley work in the midwest or east coast---> alumni network all on the east coast?
DOUBLE out-of-state tuition

UCLA:

2 public school

still in California but father away (which i like)
biz-econ major, 3.5 GPA requirement and still some recruitment
NOT as competitive (Major pro for me)
Grading scale is easier? still on a bell curve
in-state tuition

I don't know where I want to work yet, but I definitely think that I would like to come back to the West Coast later in life. I would be completely set on Ross except for the out-of-state tuition and getting job placements on the east coast. However, Berkeley scares me with its grade deflation and no-haas guarantee.
Thanks!

Where do you want to end up? From the sounds of it, if you take Cal, you are basically going to never leave your home town. As much as people say "you can network to anywhere," a lot of people end up in the geographic area that they studied.

Listening to your remarks, if tuition is a big deal to you but you still want to get away, UCLA. If you just want to get away, go to Mich and only go home once or twice per year.

If your in state for California schools id have to choose schools between Cal and UCLA. Michigan doesn't really make sense from a financial standpoint. TBH before I started college I would've went Cal in this situation. However, knowing what I know today I would choose UCLA. I went to a similar ranked state school on the east coast. I think you hit the nail on the head with regards to UCLA being easier and I have heard a lot of anecdotal evidence from some to support this. I would assume that 80% of people are going to choose Cal in this situation. GL

I got into one of these for undergrad and often wonder "what if". All three are great schools. I'm very partial to Berkeley; it responds to my ideal of what a university should strive to be. That said, UCLA is probably the most well-rounded place to go in terms of prestige, social life, sports, weather, parties, recruiting opps, etc.

The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd.

Actually you could make good arguments for any school. Berkley does have an edge in prestige... but you should also be thinking about what you want to major in, because some departments are better than others from school to school. And I totally understand that you want to get away, but do keep in mind that you will be put in an entirely new context - there will be Cali people from other places and plenty of out of state people. You can also try and plan a year abroad somewhere if you find it's not dynamic enough for you.

Other than that, the one piece of advice I can give is that if you haven't visited all schools (and ideally the departments you are considering majoring in), do so. Your gut can be a very wise sage in such matters.

Agree that Michigan doesn't make sense, though it's a fine university.

The Berkeley vs. UCLA cultures are very different. Did you visit the campuses? That should make the choice pretty easy. Berkeley is liberal, academic, diverse, and very much tied in to the tech culture in the bay. UCLA tends to be more conservative, social oriented, and less diverse. Both are great schools, so the question is which would you fit better at.
