Hiring New Analysts?

Hey guys,

I wanted to know when boutique and BB banks were going to start hiring new analysts again. I have a few contacts (MD level) at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs and they informed me that there wasn't really any hiring going on at this moment.

I just graduated with a degree in economics but never really considered working for a bank until about a couple months ago. Given the fact that I graduated and no longer eligible for campus recruiting, will I still have a chance to secure an analyst position next time these banks start hiring analysts again? Would I have to apply as an experienced hire?

Any advice would be appreciated.
