Internal Audit to Corporate Finance - How realistic is the jump?
Hey Everyone,I'm currently an Internal Auditor working at BAML. Graduated back in May with a Bachelors in Finance from a Top 10 public school. After being six months on the job I am looking to make the switch to corporate finance later on.
I had previous internship experience in corporate finance and took this full time IA gig in all honesty for the brand and the opportunity to do (from what I was told) interesting work with financial risk. While the brand is solid, the work is not as interesting as I thought it would be and not relevant to my background at all (despite being told it would be).
With that I am hoping to make a switch back to corporate finance. With this I ask first, is the switch from IA to Corp Finance possible? If so, how challenging will it be? Would it be easier to probably internally get to CF in my current firm then jump to another industry (really looking into healthcare and CPG industries down the line).
I wish someone could shed some light on this. I just took a role in IA with hopes of using it as a springboard into Corp Fin... Be nice to know if it's at all possible.
