Internship program advice needed
Hey there WSO,
I'd like to begin by saying I'm a freshman in college starting my second semester. I had several problems that led to a not so impressive GPA my first semester. Non target university in the south. Through several meeting with the internship coordinator in our business school, I was introduced to a company that offers guaranteed internship placement in any company that they offer, interview coaching, and housing for the duration of the internship. I got accepted for the program and am guaranteed placement in an investment bank in NYC. The cost for all of this totals about $9000. The largest and most recognizable bank they can place me in is UBS from what I understand, but I haven't seen a list of my options yet. If I do not get placed in the city or bank that I want, the entire "tuition" will be refunded. I have until Monday to decide whether or not I want to do it. Does this sound like a good idea for a first internship or should I focus on school and bring my GPA up and try to find one on my own after my sophomore year?
