No offense, but I've never been a big fan of choosing groups based on prestige or dealflow. What kind of deals do you want to work on? Do you want the best shot at PE afterwards, or do you want to stay in banking? Do you want to cover one industry and a breadth of products or know one product well and see a breadth of industries? How technical of an experience do you want? M&A at JP is a great group. Lev Fin would be a great experience and the market should be fine once you start FT in 2009.

i am also interested in this. i plan on shopping around again for FT offers after the summer - does it make much of a difference which group you intern in, in terms of getting interviews/offers during FT recruiting in the fall? do any of these groups at JPM have significantly different exit ops? Thanks.

i agree with nystateofmind that your criteria is not the best way. call up the analyst in the groups and see how the culture is. If I had to rank, I would keep your order. LevFin should return by the time you start FT (or at least by the time your bonus is paid out). The overall market is down due to the lev fin market being down significantly and the reduced appetite of financial sponsors. For an SA, I think coverage will give you great exposure as you will get exposure to the differnet products at the bank and will help you choose your group as a FT.
