London business school

I looked at Business School Rankings and the mba offered by London Business School was ranked second in the world by financial times. Are the other programs offered by London Business School also good? I am looking at the msc finance program and is this program well received in the City?

The MiM has excellent placements. They just released their 2012 career report, which includes MBB consulting, top BB IB (GS/MS/JPM), and many industry placements as well. I was admitted for MiM 2014 but declined.

He's talking about the MIF, not the MIM.

I applied to this program as well; job placement looks pretty ok but it's at the very bottom of my list among all the mba and mfin programs I applied to.

My question regarding this mainly arises whether I should aim to go asap to a pre-experience top master finance program (LSE, Oxbridge, HEC, Bocconi etc) or MiM at LBS or work a while and then do my masters in finance at LBS. I will take a year off either way after graduating from undergrad, possibly even two before starting my master.

I dont know if pre-experience master programs see that as a negative if there is say 2 years in between your undergrad and starting a potential masters.

Well in this regard, if you need work experience for a MBA wouldn't anyone rather prefer to do the MBA then at LBS as opposed to the MSc?

Yes they are. I e-mailed them a while back and inquired. That is of course dependant on your prir experience. But since the program Requires at least 2 years of finance experience pretty much all graduates would be looking at associate level. The banks in the UK seem much less hell bent on MBA grads only. This is also the case for LSE, Oxford, and Cambridge programs. As long as you've got a few years of good experience, the banks will start you off as associates. Seems like a pretty good deal versus the two year mba.

Great school, great MFE program. Cannot compare with American uni's you listed, because believe P is the only school with MFE. Although IIRC, MFE's are offered at other schools. Most students return for MBA in the USA, not MFE.

but how do u compare the LBS mba with HSWPY mba. does it really stands second. moreover what abt lse , where does it stand compared to these schools although it does not have a mba degree. as i am posting in i banking thread i wana compara these schools with the perspective of ib recruitment and comp packages

thx taylorman, i want more insight on the school and its two degrees, i.e mba and mif. i know its a very good school prb the best in uk but i want from u a comparison of lbs with us targets
