Lean-In.og ban bossy scam
The recent movement by Sheryl Sandberg Lean-In non profit to ban the word bossy is nothing more than a scam. They have a bunch of successful women who have nothing better to do than bitch about problems that don't really exist. I personally think this is nothing more than Sandberg having her feelings hurt because people think she is a bitch.
They have "facts" like "Girls are afraid to be lead because they fear they will be called bossy," personally I sure as fuck don't want anyone leading anything that is afraid to be called bossy. Seems like a bunch of people crying about things being not fair. No shit, guess what the world isn't fair bitches.
YOU SEXIST PIG
That view is just bullshit.
lol it was a sarcastic joke to show how retarded the folks on the other side of your argument can be
I don't get it. Does it make more sense to ban words, or let people's attitudes change due to the quality of their work? You'd think they'd stand on the latter and be confident in their leadership skills. I think she's hurting her cause by doing this.
So tired of this "fair" bullshit. Just wait 30 years and see how bad its going to get.
I don't like bossy people. Period. That she's a chick and bitching about it clearly demonstrates she's clueless.
Lead by example.
end of story.
The fact that the word "chick" and "bitch" has been used to reply to this only reaffirms that the vocabulary used to address women needs to be seriously reevaluated. We don't refer to men as "dudes" or "bros" and, if a man does something wrong, we don't say, "the world isn't fair bastards".
Honestly, "dudes" and "bros" are a shitty parallel because men call each other that affectionately. I have NEVER heard a women say "love all of my chicks!". No girl says that because she doesn't want to be CALLED that. Yet men continue to do it anyway, asserting that it is a non offensive term.
But whatever, that's besides the point. The word "bossy" is another one of these words. It's pretty much exclusively used on women, and it has a sexist connotation whether you want to admit that or not. We should not be using words in the office place that are sexist because you are not supposed to be sexist in the office. It's about being professional, and using a word like "bossy" is not professional.
If you stopped blindly hating feminists for a second and took a look at your actions, you might actually understand the other side of the argument instead of calling them "retarded". Also, don't use the word "retarded". You don't have to offend people to get a point across.
If you are this easily offended I would suggest a career path in special education.
Settle down, for Christ.
I use "girls" and "chicas" to refer to my female friends the way I refer to my male friends as "dudes" and "bros".
You want to know what the alternative is for calling a woman bossy? Calling her a fucking prick. Or an asshole. Or a douchebag, piece of shit, cocksucker, fuck, etc. That's what we call the males bosses that are "bossy".
Oh, and in my experience, most "feminists" are retarded and aren't actually feminists. Most are sexists that want to be treated better than men.
On a side note, I know plenty of women who affectionately call each other bitches all the time.
Also, a hugely popular weight loss support forum is called 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet.
Just saying...
So when people say that a point is "bullshit" and call others "retarded", I'm the one that needs to settle down? Pretty strong language was being used well before I said anything.
And I'm not offended by the word "bossy". I just don't think it's an appropriate word to use in the workplace because it's sexist, not because it hurts my feelings. Two very different things.
However, I am frustrated that people have deemed it appropriate to call people "chicks" and "bitches" because women have expressed that they feel oppressed.
Bitches is definitely different than chicks, which is why I didn't include it in that rant. "BItches" can be used affectionately, similar to the word "slut". But I think it's easier for someone to grasp why those words are inappropriate, but it can be hard to understand why the word "chick" is. So I brought that up. I don't really think that a few exceptions here and there totally negate my point, but it's definitely interesting to consider why a successful book would use that in a title.
.
Can´t stand this chick. Call me bossy all you want just pay me equally and don't ever tell me to be "nice."
This lady seems to be very bossy
My take on it right here: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/blog/dear-sheryl-sandberg-part-2
I use the word "girl" and "chica", too, when referring to my friends. But "chick" is almost exclusively used by guys to refer to girls.
If you used those words for women and men, it would not be sexist. I would rather be called those things than bossy, because it means I was being compared to my peers, which also consist of men. Banning the term "bossy" is not about being treated more nicely, it's about being treated the same. So, sure, call me an asshole and a prick and whatever else. As long as it applies to both men and women, go for it.
I don't see the insult in the "pay me equally" part? And I don't get offended when people call me rude things or tell me to change something, as long as it's because of me as a person, and not my gender. If I should be nicer, then I wouldn't be offended if a friend told me to be nicer. But if he/she told me that I wasn't very nice for a girl, I would be offended.
This thread started with everyone in agreement, then a woman showed up and she brought drama with her.
