A Wall Street Oasis topic has never inspired me as much as the thread posted two days ago titled, "Gas Station, Car Wash, Fast Food - Owning Unsexy Businesses.” If you haven’t read through it, I highly recommend you do. The post provides ideas for various unsexy, everyday businesses that provide stable cash flow. I’m in my first year of a two-year pre-MBA private equity role and the topic got me thinking: instead of paying $100k+ of tuition, why not buy a business and teach myself? The upfront cost could potentially be the same, but the experience could provide both an education and income. The thread mentioned BizBuySell, an online marketplace for small businesses. I checked out the site for the first time and was really impressed with the large number of listings. There are some interesting opportunities that seem reasonably priced.
Is there a way we can have it all? I want a sexy business that produces sexy cash flows. I found these on bizbuysell:

I'm not necessarily highlighting these businesses as ideal candidates. They are definitely not turnkey and require some operational and service expertise. There are issues with both, but I’m having fun dreaming!
