math major at nyu
hey, I'm a math major at NYU (undergrad). I'll be starting my sophomore year this fall. Besides being interested in math, I'm also interested in finance. My question is, how hard would it be to get opportunities as sternies as a math major at NYU. Would math majors from NYU have good chances of getting a job at a BB, provided academics are great, internships are good, etc.? Or would they have slim chances as compared to sternies? Tldr; would studying math at NYU give me a good shot at BBs?
Side question, I'm also interested in trading. Is studying math at nyu good enough to take a shot at trading jobs? I'm also considering transferring to stern (I have a really good GPA, did good ECs during the freshman year, did research, etc.) so that I can do a math+finance/stats double major. So my question is, have you guys heard of guys from nyu working at hedge funds, prop shops, etc. Would a math major at nyu have a good shot at a hedge fund, prop shop, etc.?
How well is math at NYU regarded on wall street (or nyc finance)?
Thank
I think you should be better than the average applicant. I would look at quantitative analyst positions too, they're a tough job but they pay good money
