Newbie question about PE

Hi, I'm a rising sophomore at a target school and highly interested in working in PE after graduating. My question is: how possible is it to get in right out of college without being in IB first? and if it is possible, how could I best position myself to do this?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. Just trying to plan ahead.

Thanks

Not a dumb question at all. There is a small number of mega funds that hire analysts straight out of undergrad to help support deals. Some examples are Blackstone, Apollo, and Bain Capital.

There are also some funds that hire associates out of undergrad for the purpose of deal sourcing (cold calling). The most prominent example of such funds is Summit Partners.

Check out the WSO PE guide - it has info on what decisions you can make in undergrad to help you eventually wind up in PE.

Good luck.
