Northwestern Mutual Vault Top 10 Internship???? Total BS
Why is Northwestern Mutual (NWM) ranked as Vault's #5 top internship over BCG #8, Deloitte #21, RBC #28, etc. All the kids at my school that couldn't get internships at respectable companies all ended up interning at NWM when they had nowhere else to go. At the career fair, one of their recruiters literally dragged me by the arm to give her my resume. Lol, I got offered an internship with them and I didn't even interview with them. Anyone know what goes into Vault's metrics in selecting their "Top Internships?"
I think it's one of the worst internships. They just have their employees sit in an office all day bugging their friends and family with real jobs trying to sell life insurance.
For background, NWM doesn't give their sales reps base salaries, they give them $100/week to show up to their weekly office meetings. After that, everything their sales reps make is 100% commission. NWM does this so they can hire tons of sales reps without having to pay a dime on salaries and ultimately minimize risk.
Disclaimer: I ultimately ended up interning with a boutique PE which IMO >>> NWM
