Prime Brokerage internship offer?! Not sure, please help
Hey everyone, so I've been offered a long-term internship at a European BB within their Prime Brokerage. I've done a lot of research on PB (including on WSO) and I'm still not too sure if I should take the internship. The internship will start next year. I'm currently doing an internship in project and leveraged finance at another European bank, and would like to eventually move on to Lev finance/M&A. Hence, I don't think this internship in prime brokerage will be of much value or will it?
The description says that "the role is within the prime brokerage sales and you will sit in the Market Risk team assisting the sales team in the preparation of hedge fund portfolios to enable risk to perform margin analysis for prospective clients. Ensuring compliance with operation risk requirements etc. The product scope encompasses most derivatives and the role involves basic portfolio analysis, reporting and helping the team with adhoc risk projects."
I don't quite understand this. I don't think this has the prestige of lev finance/m&a. Isn't this job that I'm being offered essentially back/middle office? And any transferable skills? Any advice will be appreciated thanks!
