Privatus Partners

I was wondering if you guys heard of Privatus Partners? What do they actually do? I could not figure out if it's an investment bank, private equity fund or a hedge fund. I tend to believe that it's a Private Equity fund.
Has anyone worked with them or been exposed to that company?
Any input will be appreciated.

Here is their website: http://www.privatuspartners.com/

"Privatus' investment strategy, business model, and terms have been designed specifically for the needs and goals of private investors and are very different from traditional private equity funds, which cater mainly to public pension funds. Privatus' investment objective is to create meaningful incremental wealth. Privatus enables its Limited Partners to pursue direct investing at scale in an efficient and flexible manner. Privatus Limited Partners are given transparency into their direct investments with Privatus as well as certain oversight rights to major investment decisions. Privatus manages the entire investment process from sourcing to management to exit."

Sounds like a quasi family office private equity firm focused on growth equity investments.

Looking at their website they look like they do distressed private equity buyouts of small to medium-ish sized firms hoping to turn them around and sell them for a profit. Some of the guys have restructuring experience so that's usually a sign that they have experience navigating through bankruptcies and have formed this company to take over targets through their distressed debt or distressed equity. They look like a start-up at this point.
