Short company description on resume?

Is it beneficial to include a short description of a company on your resume if it is small?

For example, I am currently interning at a small ABL hedge fund that most people probably haven't heard of outside the ABL world. Is it common to include a description under the company name/position, or just highlight it throughout the bullet points?

What is the common thing to do in this situation?

I've seen it done both

I've seen it done both ways.

Whatever method you use make sure you highlight its AUM and its strategy

Personally I prefer the SHORT description method

Example:

"Name of Firm", long/short equity hedge fund with $8.5 bn AUM
- Describe your duties
- Describe your duties
- Describe your duties

You can also work a company

You can also work a company description into a bullet point.

For example:

ABC Investments
- Analyzed xyz sector for a long/short equity hedge fund with $x AUM

I'd personally rather see

I'd personally rather see Clueless Wanderer's approach over mwgr5's. Your first bullet seems pretty awkward if you use it to describe the firm and give an accomplishment.
