Should I contact HR people on LinkedIn
Hey guys, these tough times in the job market, especially for us recent graduates, are forcing us to be more aggressive in the job search. I have contacted various individuals working at the companies I apply to for general career advice and this seems to help jump start a conversation. But, do you guys think its a good/bad idea to specifically contact HR people working for the companies I apply to?
Also as a side question, do any of you have any advice as to what I can ask senior employees or HR people to not be too direct: "I want a Job! Pretty please employ me, will work for food." but rather something that might hint at it and is pretty general?
Thanks a lot!

Don't Have an Answer
I am wondering the same thing.
Is it appropriate to add people you don't know as LinkedIn connections, and what ought to be said in a message?
Thanks!
Try and get an introduction
Try and get an introduction first if they are in your network.
Netiquette
It's not appropriate to add people you don't know...
I don't want to sound like I'm advertising for LinkedIn or anything, but the whole point of the site is that you know your connections and they know you, then you can refer each other and introduce people to other contacts, i.e. networking that is actually useful to all parties concerned
rather than just adding randoms like all these idiots ----> http://www.toplinked.com/top50.html
wtf!
Yea, I agree that adding
Yea, I agree that adding random people is dumb, but I'm trying to actually have conversations with people. I have come in contact with alumni or even just people in the area to try to get advice from them and quite a few of them are happy to help and give feedback as to their company and how they got to where they are.
I was just thinking that if I could contact some recruiters within those companies they might actually check out my resume and help me get an interview if they like it. On the other hand they might just be annoyed that I contact them, but do I have anything to lose?
HR = worthless. They were
HR = worthless. They were worthless during the boom of 2006-2007 in providing transparency on the process. And now, I'd be surprised if they do anything all day. Dont even bother.
