Some Resume/Cover Letter Questions

1) Does it matter if you have your address/phone number/email at the bottom of your resume, rather than the top?

2) On the internship experience section, what pieces of information are necessary? e.g. Can you leave out the city?

3) After a list (e.g. of extracurricular activities) should there be a period if it's not a sentence?

4) What does everyone think of a "relevant coursework" section from school, if it's linked to I-Banking/finance/accounting?

5) If sending in a cover letter via a company's website on one of their forms, should one still include a header with the date, the address, etc.?

1) Does it matter if you have your address/phone number/email at the bottom of your resume, rather than the top?

  • put it at the top

2) On the internship experience section, what pieces of information are necessary? e.g. Can you leave out the city?

  • put city in, add generally 3 bullet points, make them results oriented, ie: increased revenue to department x by doing y

3) After a list (e.g. of extracurricular activities) should there be a period if it's not a sentence?

  • not sure, look at some of those "resume guides" i think both wetfeet and vault have them

4) What does everyone think of a "relevant coursework" section from school, if it's linked to I-Banking/finance/accounting?

  • I think it is good, but don't go overboard, mention accounting, corporate finance, and high level math classes only.

5) If sending in a cover letter via a company's website on one of their forms, should one still include a header with the date, the address, etc.?

  • If there is space, and the formatting is not a problem, yes. (it looks professional)

I don't use bullet points, I use semicolons to separate points because it will take up less space and you don't have to go to the next line to start a new "bullet"

i really would advise against this, if i see a resume that is hard to read come across my desk i throw it away take a look at some of the "best i-banking resume" guides, i don't think you will see this, but maybe i am wrong
