Sport vs. Internship During College
I'm currently a freshman. I'm working on two startup projects, each requiring approx 5 hrs/week of dedication (one of them will demand a lot more starting in the spring), and I'm also in club crew, which currently takes out 18 hrs/week.
Working off of my hyped up freshman energy, I find myself continuously looking for more startup/internship opportunities (plenty of them in the college town), even though I know I'd burn out quickly if I took another one up. However, I feel like I can drop crew and not regret it later on, but I would only do so if the benefit of an internship would merit it. Also, I wouldn't kill myself if I don't work more.
So (finally) the question is: club sport or an internship? I know the whole "do what you enjoy and calm down, you fucking freshman" deal but I'm such a workaholic that I absolutely need guidance in this area.

I'd say to stay in the club sport until
a) you don't have time to spare anymore because your schoolwork is taking up too much.
or
b) you become a sophomore.
I'm sure you can find some internships for sophomores and intern during the summer right before junior year.
Right now, you should just have fun with that club sport. I'm sure recruiters will like an activity to give them the impression that you're a guy who gets along well with other people. Plus, they won't think you're a nerd that spends all his time studying/interning.
Again, I'm a sophomore myself so take my suggestion with 2 grains of salt.
If you think you can make it into a varsity boat, stick with it. Otherwise, stop going and list it anyways.

Uhh, Both? I worked about 15 hr/s a week and played a Division 1 sport that took up probably 30/hrs a week during season (more if traveling) and about 20/hrs a week during the offseason. And during the summer I worked full time internships and played/worked out at nights. Just be disciplined.
