Hello new member here..
I graduated college this past May. I didnt goto any prestigious school, have any impressive grades, or finance job experience.
I have been applying to jobs after college and I am feeling a little sad from the number of replies that I have received, (0). Right now Im not even aiming for a job I am aiming for a interview.
Recently I have stop searching for jobs altogether because I feel like my resume and cover letter aren't up to par.

Cover letters
is it important? Im not a good writer and I heard that if your cover letters arent good it will actually hinder your job application.
Do you guys use the same cover letter over and over again? i feel like my dumbass is the only one that keep writing new cover letters that are always less than average.
Long intro
Draft yourself a few cover letter templates geared to different situations. Leave them alone. Edit and improve them, use them. Leave them alone. Edit and improve them. Use them. Improve some more.
While you're writing a cover letter, keep in mind you aren't creating a masterpiece of literature. You're merely introducing yourself. Summarize what you can offer while perhaps explaining how you learned of the position (name drop here, this is where networking comes in).
Lastly, do not repeat a bunch of shit from your resume. It is attached, so keep the cover letter simple. M&I also has some great articles on cover letters (as well as templates) .

i've been tempted to run a public "fix your life" thread, seeing if i can turn around someones situation, with the help of a few mentors (online), as an example. Will put some more thought into it, but you look like a potential candidate.

I don't really have any constructive comments regarding cover letters, but based on your situation, you should probably do a lot more networking. Contact alums, ask family/friends, cold call. Find something/anything that you have in common with those already working in the industry.
