Submit applications via HR despite having contacts?
Hi everyone,
I have a question that I am sure you can help me with.
After my internship over the summer, I have managed to get a few contacts to refer me to their friends at other banks.
My question here is, since i'm applying for a full time position next year, if I were to submit my resume via the unofficial channel (to a contact) should I/ do I still need to submit another via the HR route (the usual online applications)?
I'm just concerned that if I do so, it'll seem like i'm really desperate, but on the other hand, if i do not submit via the HR, my resume could be forgotten and I may miss out on a chance to apply to the bank altogether.
Advice please!
Cheers.

I don't think it will hurt,
I don't think it will hurt, though I would advise you to keep in touch with your contacts if you are worried that your resume is forgotten.
It's important to use both
It's important to use both HR channels as well as your network when applying Full Time. Applying through HR is standard. At that point, you could send an email to your contacts indicating to them that you've applied and would be very much interested in moving forward with the application process (or however you want to word it). The idea is, if your resume/application by itself to HR doesn't get you on the interview list, you want your contacts/network to step in.
at my BB, even if submit
at my BB, even if submit your resume to a contact, you must also submit it via the online application to HR
def submit through both
def submit through both channels. keep in touch with contact and let him know you submitted so that he can keep an eye out for your resume and ask around for it, etc
