Suggestions for Stuff to do in Aguas Calientes (Manchu Picchu City)

Monkeys. I have booked my flight to Peru and am super excited to visit Manchu Picchu. I have an afternoon in Aguas Calientes and was wondering if any of you have been there. I have heard that hot springs and the butterfly museum(?) is nice.

The town is really only in existence to accommodate visitors to MP. We didn’t go to the hot springs, but others who did said it’s pretty decent. Once you walk the Main Street and look at the souvenirs and whatnot, I’d find a bar on the Main Street and have some pisco sours. Literally everyone in the city is there to see MP, so you can meet some fun like-minded travelers pretty easily. It’s a relaxing place.

You should be excited! I went to Peru last year for two weeks during rainy season and it didn't rain once :) Aguas Calientes is mostly a resting place before you reach MP - Aguas is cool but it's not the main event. My personal favourite was hiking Huayna Picchu (a small mountain right beside MP, where most photos are taken from) was the coolest part of the experience. Be sure to get tickets in advance for Huayna Picchu because they only allow X amount of people on the trail each day.

Not sure how long you're in Peru for but I would highly recommend checking out the Rainbow Mountains - get a morning excursion to be there for sunrise - it was the highlight of my entire trip. Been to 25+ countries and can easily say it was the most beautiful scenery I've witnessed. My Peru trip consisted of Cusco, Lima, MP, RM and the Amazon. AMA?

Just had my trade dispute rejected by Schwab for a loss of 35k. This single issue alone should be a gigantic red flag to anyone who trades on their platform. If they have a system error, and you do not video record your trading (they actually said this), they will not honour their fuck up. Switching everything away from them. Fuck this company.
