I was aked mostly fit
I was aked mostly fit questions. You may need to know some basic accounting like accruals, when to recognize a charge, etc.
The big issue is the accounting for Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 assets with Level 1 being assets with verifiable prices (such as stocks), Level 2 being some harder to value assets like certain options, and Level 3 assets being hard to proce asstes such as CDOs, MBSs, etc. These assets are very illiquid; hence, there is no easy way to obtain a true value for them. They are valued at "mark-to-model" meaning that the price is a result of an internal model. Usually the traders and controllers will make separate, independent models to value the assets. Since the model is not guaranteed to be accurate, it is hard to account for them on a balance sheet. Many models were wrong and now you are seeing large writedowns in the value of these Level 3 assets by many financial institutions liek Citi, Merrill, Bear Stearns, etc.
