Super Wool 1x0's

looking to add a suit to my wardrobe and was wondering if anyone could explain to me what exactly super wool is and the differences in the numbers? i get that the higher the number the finer the wool but what does that mean? What is the ideal number?

On another note how about suits of different materials, cashmere, mix of cashmere and something else, etc...

"Super Wool" is just fresh, virgin wool. Doesn't mean a whole lot these days, since most woolen suits you're going to pick up are going to be made of virgin wool anyway.

The number refers to the fineness of the wool fibers used to construct the suit. The higher the number, the finer the wool, as defined by the diameter of each fiber. Okay material is going to have fibers that are ~20 micrometres wide, while the good stuff would be closer to 10 or so, give or take.

The lower the number, the less fine it is. e.g. Super 110s wool is less fine, less exquisite, less delicate than Super 130s, which is less all-the-above than Super 150s.

It's up to you to pick the right fabric for your needs. A super 150s garment from RLBL is not wise for the banking analyst. The hours spent twitching around your chair, typing with your elbows rubbing across the edge of your desk, stretching to reach for things, etc. will cause havoc on the fabric. If you're an MD and you're out wining, dining, and schmoozing with clients and senior execs, it's far more appropriate.

You wouldn't use a Ferrari to haul furniture through the streets of Manhattan. You'd use a Ford. You wouldn't use the Ford for a weekend out at your second home in the Hamptons. The fabric equivalent of the sensible, workhorse, utilitarian option is generally something at Super 130s or below.

Hope this helps.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.
