The True Wall Street 2?
So it appears news out that Kevin Spacey has joined the cast of the upcoming rumored super-script "Margin Call" that was making alot of news at Cannes.
The cast looks to be stellar: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1615147/
Kevin Spacey, Zachary Quinto and Stanley Tucci to say the least.
I also highly doubt that Spacey would be taking on a script about such a controversial topic unless he was in love with it. The film is suppose to be based on the last 24 hours before the crisis of 8 Wall Street execs, and its suppose to show the human side, sacrifice and pressure that Wall Street saw during that very week.
What do you all think? Will the public finally think Wall Street is not a bunch of evil demons if the movie is a sucess? Or will it bomb at the box office and be ridiculed by the masses?
Woah thanks for the post man. Haven't heard of this movie until now but the cast looks great. I think the film could do very well in a wide release as this is still a hot topic that the public still doesn't fully understand. Although it is supposed to show the "human side" of the crisis, not so sure that the audience will sympathize with the Wall Streeters. According to an article I found, Kevin Spacey was at Citi's NY offices and met with traders and executives to research his role apparently he asked questions that might not put his character in the best light, such as:
"Is it possible to be good at what you do without liking the company you work for?"
"If you knew a security was worthless and wanted to sell it, how would you grapple with the moral implications of doing so?"
Based on this alone, I can't help but feel that his character will be portrayed as some scumbag banker that Main St. loves to hate. Obviously the media has forced that image enough the last couple years, so I'm hoping it's not more of the same. With the quality of the cast, I'd have to imagine that they're gonna try to hit multiple personalities rather than trying to get the audience to love or hate Wall St. Either way, can't wait to see it.
