You should "reply all" to his e-mail just to make fun of him. Say something like:
"You're about to set up your computer system? That sounds fascinating. I'll alert the media, assuming no one else who got your e-mail has already done so. Be sure to keep us posted on how it works out for you."
After that, he'll always make sure to triple check everything he does to avoid being embarrassed like that again.
