Hi, I am graduating in November from a university in South Africa with a major in Investment Management and Economics, minors in finance and accounting. I want to get some work experience in the US (immigration/work permit wont be a problem) before going for my MBA. I have thus far passed everything with distinction and won several awards. My school, though one of the best in Africa, is unknown in the US. I recently took my GMAT and did well (700+).
From browsing around it seems that I will have to apply for a new analyst position. I would consider working in maket/security research, trading, or portfolio management. If anyone has any advice about where to start, I would really appreciate it. It is quite difficult to make heads or tails of the new job market in the states if you know nothing about it and have no one to offer advice.
