Using People

Hey guys, first post here.

I have a few personal connections to BB analysts... And by that I mean friends of friends and old classmates, but definitely not buddies. Anyway, my question is: do you think it's worth it to ask them to pass my resume on? Does an analyst have any pull at all when it comes to scoring an interview? How about random alumni?

Don't use people. But you

Don't use people. But you can network.

Ask for an informational meeting. See if they'll meet with you for 15-30 minutes to discuss the industry, and your goals, etc. If it seems appropriate, have them comment on your resume. Then ask what advice they have for your career search, ask if there's an alum from your school that does recruiting, etc.

You don't want to start the conversation with "can you send my resume to the right people" or "can you get me an interview". That's not networking.
