UT Austin vs. Washington and Lee University
Hey. To y'all's surprise, I too want a job in IB/PE. High finance in wall street has been a dream for ages and after being rejected from Wharton I was afraid the dream was over.
I ended up getting into schools such UT Austin, Washington and Lee, and a couple others (Babson, BU, Rice, Texas A&M -- all of these are about double the price than the two I am considering though).
I know UT Austin is already established as somewhat of a feeder school to these Wall Street firms. I also know Washington and Lee has some programs that can also get your foot in the door (mostly from alumni connections, frats, investment societies, etc.). I don't know which to pick. One is huge and public and in the middle of a city, the other is small, private, and secluded.
I got into both of these school's business programs and thanks to W&L's full tuition scholarship, both will cost me around the same.
If you were in my shoes, what route would you pick?

I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
I've heard great things about Washington. Tons of opportunity out there and the alumni network really pulls for their own when it comes to recruiting. Washington can get you where you UT can get you, especially in the west. It might not be worth the cost for UT if you want to live on the West Coast. Also the majority of UT alums are O&G. Washington will get you potentially more group options.
You will be fine from either school. If you head to UT, will you be in McCombs? If not, then W&L would definitely have the advantage. They are such different schools though, at least in terms of size. If you'll be in at McCombs, I'd just pick wherever you're more comfortable.
W&L if you feel you'd fit in and enjoy it there.
Plus one on this.
If you feel like it would be a good culture for, W&L in a heartbeat, especially since the money issue has been addressed. W&L will open doors on the east coast that UT won’t open as easily.
Big qualifier is if you feel like you’d be a good fit. It’s a small place and you might feel trapped if you don’t like it.
McCombs.
Banking opps probably a wash.
But, UT is likely the most fun school in the country.
