What does "On-Job Training" consist of at an IB?
Just wondering how difficult it is to learn on the job and be trained in an IB for a prime brokerage (leverage/financing) role?
I'm currently gunning for some sales positions in NY at the moment, but lack certain experience in things like :
1) Using a Bloomberg terminal
2) Using spreadsheets to calculate margin financing, etc
I understand the concept of the role and have been offered an interview. I've been told that they are willing to train. As I have never worked in a bank environment before, it would be interesting to see what "training" consists of?
Are you allowed to shadow others? Obviously I understand that I must possess at least some basic principals of finance, but do many of these banks expect you to already have a deep-knowledge of prime brokerage if that is the position you are applying for?
Would be interesting to hear your comments.
