What is the line between "not enough finance" / "finance nerd"?

Hear and read all the time about applicants making sure they can tell their story and prove why they are interested in finance by becoming super-involved with finance work/clubs for their resume(this goes double for non-targets)

Then I read about applicants who spoke largely about non finance things in their BB interviews and how well-rounded candidates with only 1 good finance experience look better than hardcore finance guys.

so how much is too much and how little is too little?
