Where are we going from here?
S&T is not what it used to be as "they" say.
And bank's rich traders don't exist anymore!
So the deal is me trying to break into the universe of risk analysis so I can get my foot in the door at a financial institution with possibly a position on the front office....or not!
Now I just graduated, got my CFA 1 and still no job at a bulge bracket even after many unfortunately unsuccessful interviews with the LARGEST institutions in the country.
I work for a market maker in a small city and they provide traders (market makers if you will) with capital and training but........
I love the markets, but now, I'm thinking about quitting the boat for corporate finance as I feel financial institutions are now looking for scientists instead of a business school graduate so what you guys think.
Should I go for a master in financial engineering, a bachelor in mathematics, computer science maybe....
I'M LOST!
You don't need a STEM degree to succeed in S&T. With that said it's almost impossible to break into BB S&T without an internship at one. If you don't like what you're doing then you may be better off pursuing the corpfin route.
